Chris Van Allsburg is the winner of two Caldecott Medals, for Jumanji and The Polar Express, as well as the recipient of a Caldecott Honor Book for The Garden of Abdul Gasazi. The author and illustrator of numerous picture books for children, he has also been awarded the Regina Medal for lifetime achievement in children’s literature. In 1982, Jumanji was nominated for a National Book Award and in 1996, it was made into a popular feature film. Chris Van Allsburg is a former instructor at the Rhode Island School of Design. Every home should have this! This was one of my favorite books growing up. I was shocked when I learned that my best friend had never read it and therefore her son knew nothing of it either. I clearly had to put a stop to this madness and buy it for them. The artwork is just as stunning as I remember and the story is just as magical. I honestly didn't even realize that it came with an ornament which is an absolutely beautiful bonus. I loved it so much that I bought one for my boyfriend as well. They did a really wonderful job with this anniversary addition. Needless to say, everyone is in love with the book. I mean, how could they not be? It's a must have!Defective. Missing words. Pictures cut off. This is a wonderful book, but the Kindle edition is a disaster. Missing words, pictures cut off. When I tried to return an hour after purchasing I was told I could not get a refund. I will be calling Amazon.LOVE! We purchased this book to add to our Christmas collection! We wrap each book and read one a night during the month of December! A great Family Tradition and would not be complete without this classic story! Love that we can read this story in addition to watching the TV showing! A great addition was not only was this a signed copy, but had an ornament in back of book! Purchased one for each of my daughters to start their own family tradition since this story is their FAV!
