Nine Perfect Strangers Pdf

ISBN: B07DF63TGH
Title: Nine Perfect Strangers Pdf

From the number-one New York Times best-selling author of Big Little Lies

Could 10 days at a health resort really change you forever? In Liane Moriarty's latest audiobook, nine perfect strangers are about to find out....

Nine people gather at a remote health resort. Some are here to lose weight, some are here to get a reboot on life, some are here for reasons they can't even admit to themselves. Amid all of the luxury and pampering, the mindfulness and meditation, they know these 10 days might involve some real work. But none of them could imagine just how challenging the next 10 days are going to be.

Frances Welty, the formerly best-selling romantic novelist, arrives at Tranquillum House nursing a bad back, a broken heart, and an exquisitely painful paper cut. She's immediately intrigued by her fellow guests. Most of them don't look to be in need of a health resort at all. But the person who intrigues her most is the strange and charismatic owner/director of Tranquillum House.

Could this person really have the answers Frances didn't even know she was seeking? Should Frances put aside her doubts and immerse herself in everything Tranquillum House has to offer - or should she run while she still can?

It's not long before every guest at Tranquillum House is asking exactly the same question.

Combining all of the hallmarks that have made her audiobooks a go-to for any listener looking for wickedly smart, unpausable fiction that will make you laugh and gasp, Liane Moriarty's Nine Perfect Strangers once again shows why she is a master of her craft.

Not one of Liane's best Liane Moriarty can write books you can hardly put down, like The Husband's Secret and Big Little Lies, but not all her books are as good as that and unfortunately this is one of the not-so-good ones. While it's still very readable, the story is silly and unsatisfying. It has an enormous build up with not a lot of payoff. The story is about nine people (who incidentally are not perfect strangers - two pairs are married couples and one is someone's child) who go to stay at an upmarket health & wellness retreat for a 10 day transformational cleanse. Over the first half of the book we gradually get to know them all and the emotional baggage that they have brought with them: failing relationships, failing careers, bereavement, personal dilemmas. It's all quite enjoyable to read, but it moves slowly. There's a lot about their daily routine - walks, clean food, spa treatments - and I had no sense of where the book was going or what the point of it was.At about the halfway mark, that all falls into place as we finally understand the unusual intentions and methods employed by the spa's director. The second half is faster paced and we get to know all the participants very well - it's one of those books where everyone gets an epiphany - but what happens feels way too silly and I didn't find anything from this point on terribly interesting. So I don't really recommend it, but having said that it's a long book (almost 500 pages) and I read it in two days. So it's not a complete mess. I love the way that Liane writes and as always she has chosen some topical themes to explore. But the book needed more shape and it definitely needed a stronger storyline to sustain it.Relatable characters in an original setting - plenty of twists Nine guests come to stay at a health resort, each of them having reached a difficult point in life - recovering from divorce or bereavement or career downturn, and/ or simply dealing with the effects of ageing. The health resort is a blend of draconian strictness and blissfully therapeutic - hidden alcohol is confiscated from the guests' luggage, but if you're secretly feeling down about your age, you'll be magically whisked off for a rejuvenating facial. Yet the resort owner has a sinister secret agenda, and the guests must bond together to extricate themselves from some bizarre challenges. Every one of the guests uses this time at the resort to come to terms with the past, reassess their identity and find the strength to face the future. One of the great achievements of this book is the way Moriarty gradually introduces all the characters, so there is no confusion between them. No mean feat when you are dealing with nine guests, and at least 3 members of staff, all flung together. For some reason, this book reminded me of Agatha Christie, with the different characters bonding in an artificial environment. However, there is no real comparison, I'm just curious whether anyone else saw this as well! Not her best book Not Liane’s best work. I found the concept mildly interesting but too many characters to follow and too much inner dialogue for me. I was ready to give up about half way through, so much emphasis on weight. I got a few laughs but as a whole found the book clunky to read, rather than a page turner like many of this author’s other books.

The Surprising Science of Meetings Free Pdf

Title: The Surprising Science of Meetings Pdf How You Can Lead Your Team to Peak Performance
Author: Steven G. Rogelberg
Published Date: 2019-01-02
Page: 192

"In workplaces around the world, meetings are where productivity and creativity go to die. Steven Rogelberg is the world's leading expert on how to fix them, and here he shares the best evidence on how we can stop wasting time and falling victim to groupthink." -- Adam Grant, New York Times bestselling author of Give and Take, Originals, and Option B with Sheryl Sandberg Steven G. Rogelberg is Chancellor's Professor at University of North Carolina, Charlotte, for distinguished national, international, and interdisciplinary contributions. He has well over 100 publications and recently won the highly prestigious Humboldt Award for his research on meeting science. His work has been profiled in the Harvard Business Review, CBS News, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, NPR, Guardian, National Geographic, and Scientific American Mind, among others. In addition to his research and teaching, he consults for small and large organizations, including IBM, TIAA, Procter & Gamble, VF Corporation, Family Dollar, Siemens, and others. Dr. Rogelberg founded and currently directs large outreach initiatives focusing on nonprofit organization health and effectiveness with over 500 nonprofits served.

A recent estimate suggests that employees endure a staggering 55 million meetings a day in the United States. This tremendous time investment yields only modest returns. No organization made up of human beings is immune from the all-too-common meeting gripes: those that fail to engage, those that inadvertently encourage participants to tune out, and those that blatantly disregard participants' time.

Most companies and leaders view poor meetings as an inevitable cost of doing business. But managers can take heart: researchers now have a clear understanding of the key drivers that make meetings successful. In The Surprising Science of Meetings, Steven G. Rogelberg, researcher and consultant to some of the world's most successful companies, draws from extensive research, analytics and data mining, and survey interviews with over 5,000 employees across a range of industries to share the proven practices and techniques that help managers and employees enhance the quality of their meetings. For those who lead and participate in meetings, Rogelberg provides immediate direction, guidance, and relief, offering a how-to guide to change your working life starting today.

Read this book if you want to improve your meetings! I was spending more time than I wanted to spend in meetings. I’d already made some changes to reduce the volume of meetings during my work week and read this book hoping that I’d learn something new - I was definitely not disappointed. I was able to make positive changes to my meetings the day after finishing the book- many of the suggestions are super easy to implement. Implementing things I learned from this book resulted in reducing time in meetings from 60% to 40% of my work week (yes, i'm a data nerd and i calculated it)! I’m a lot happier at work knowing that I’m being more efficient, and some of the things I’ve learned are spreading to others in my office, and several of them have now read Dr. Rogelberg's book too! An added bonus was that the book was SUPER easy to read and understand – it kept me engaged and interested from the beginning to the end.A must read! Dr. Rogelberg is a real deal researcher who gives you tried and true methods for improving productivity at work. If you want to try things that really work to enhance performance, he delivers! A must have for all business professionals. This is a great book This book should be required reading for every manager or for everyone who has to hold meetings at work. Drawing on an extensive body of research Steve Rogelberg has written an eminently practical guide for improving meetings in organizations. The book is replete with practical advice, tools and tips. Its an easy read (I read it on a 1.5 hour flight) but is a book that I will return to in the future.

Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences - Standalone Book Free Pdf

ISBN: 1305504917
Title: Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences - Standalone Book Pdf
Author: Frederick J Gravetter
Published Date: 2016-01-01
Page: 768

Frederick J Gravetter is Professor Emeritus of Psychology at The College at Brockport, State University of New York. While teaching at Brockport, he specialized in statistics, research design, and cognitive psychology. Dr. Gravetter received his Bachelor's degree in mathematics from M.I.T. and his Ph.D. in psychology from Duke University. In addition to publishing several research articles, Dr. Gravetter is co-author of the best-selling STATISTICS FOR THE BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES, 10th Edition, ESSENTIALS OF STATISTICS FOR THE BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES, 9th Edition, and RESEARCH METHODS FOR THE BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES, 5th Edition.

NOTE: This book is a standalone book and will not include any access codes.

Statistics is one of the most practical and essential courses that you will take, and a primary goal of this popular text is to make the task of learning statistics as simple as possible. Straightforward instruction, built-in learning aids, and real-world examples have made STATISTICS FOR THE BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES, 10th Edition the text selected most often by instructors for their students in the behavioral and social sciences. The authors provide a conceptual context that makes it easier to learn formulas and procedures, explaining why procedures were developed and when they should be used. This text will also instill the basic principles of objectivity and logic that are essential for science and valuable in everyday life, making it a useful reference long after you complete the course.

I love this book I love this book! The material is presented in a very clear and skillful way, with both depth and a lot of varied kinds of explanation, so that i feel i'm getting a strong and clear foundation at each level before moving on to new concepts. I've pretty much been a humanities person all the way, so i was very surprised by how interesting i find the material. I recommend this book very highly for anybody with very little math background who still wants to feel they're really doing and understanding--and even getting excited by--introductory statistics!Missing statistical tables! I LOVE the ability to obtain textbooks via Kindle, but I was very disappointed to find out half way through the semester of my statistics course that the Kindle edition of this book was missing some of the key statistical tables needed to complete my homework assignments. When you get to the Appendix B (statistical tables), the Kindle edition of this text skips from Appendix B, B.1 The Unit Normal Table, all the way to Table B.9A Critical values of the Mann-Whitney U for ' .05. In between, where tables B2-B8 should be, the text reads, "Text not available due to copyright restrictions."Missing these key tables has proven to be very inconvenient. The note made my Amazon.com stating that, "Kindle textbooks are functionally equivalent to the print textbook" is misleading. Functionally, I would have failed my statistics class, had I not been able to barrow a copy of the print textbook from a classmate. The publishers shouldn't have published a Kindle version of the book if they couldn't obtain the copyright permissions for the actual functional tables required to complete the assignments at the end of each chapter.Aside from missing tables, the book does a good job of explaining statistics; it provides learning checkpoints throughout each chapter to ensure the reader is understanding the information, as well as problems to solve at the end of each chapter - with odd numbered answers in the appendix.Best behavioral science stat book I got this book because my TA recommded it. I went through many stat books for behavioral sciences and this is by far the best. Clearly structured, nice pace, well written, logical order with lots of examples and high quality problems with answers. I went through about 4 stat books and dummies/idiot books but this is actually the best. Out of all text books (by Field, by Adams, by Privitera, and by Diez/Barr/Cetinkaya-Rundel), the worst is Field (wordy but not helpful, lacks clarity and poorly written).

Flight to Heaven Free Pdf

ISBN: B00B853SUU
Title: Flight to Heaven Pdf A Plane Crash...A Lone Survivor...A Journey to Heaven--and Back
Flight To Heaven is a beautifully written and amazing account of life, death - and life again. In the early days of his flying career, Capt. Dale Black was a passenger in a horrific airplane crash which some have called the most ironic in aviation history. He was the only survivor. In the gruesome aftermath of the crash Dale experienced a life-changing journey to heaven. This was not a vision or a dream, but a very real experience. To say that his journey to heaven transformed him forever, is an understatement. Not only was Dale's life forever altered but his story has already changed the lives of tens of thousands.

In this captivating book you'll learn about angelic guides, living Light, and indescribable music from the astonishing city of gold. Dale describes the luxurious countryside, the massive rainbow colored wall with gates of pearl, the awesome townships and the spiritual family that welcomed him. He shares with intricate detail the glorious beauty, radiant colors, intoxicating aromas, and boundless love and joy he experienced while in heaven.

To those who have lost loved ones, this book is a source of deep comfort. It also gives readers renewed purpose and glorious hope for the future. This story is full of challenges and struggles that culminate in "overcoming faith" guaranteed to inspire. This flight to heaven dramatically changed Dale's life - reading this book could change yours too.

"Of all the books about heaven, this one's the best!"
Tim Breuninger - San Diego, CA

As a publisher of four Canadian Best Sellers, a Search and Rescue Pilot, Photographer and Christian, I have found "Flight To Heaven" by Captain Dale Black, one of the most inspiring books I have ever read! It is easy to read, factual and from the moment you start, you won't want to put it down. My wife and I ordered 15 copies for friends we love, just hours after finishing this amazing story.

Mike Biden
- Retired SAR Pilot

A Heavenly Experience Within A Much Larger Story Dale's story was not only inspiring, but guided me to some biblical truths that are not always apparent in everyday life. If you are expecting a book filled with visions, events, and experiences of heaven, you will be disappointed. The author does give credible evidence of a heavenly experience, but it is only part of a much larger story.I was blessed to read through his experiences of let down after let down, while he wrestled with God's will for his recovery and his life. He never gave up hope and trusted God through it all. The lessons that he learned while persevering through his injuries will stay with me for a long time.I am glad that Dale took the time to write such an incredible story and I believe that any believer who reads the wisdom in these pages - especially if they are going through a dark period - will find a deeper understanding of God and how they can find Him in the midst of it.Not Much Info on Visit to the Heavenly Realm I bought this book thinking it would be thrilling to read all about the author's visit to Heaven. That small part of the book was ok; it was quite brief. On the other hand, the pilot himself - his personality, love for his family, etc - was extremely detailed to the point you almost know him or wish you did. Dale Black is portrayed as a loving, sensitive, scholarly Christian. And I believe he is just that. What I do Not believe is he really recalls the thousands of thoughts and spoken sentences he had over thirty years ago at age twenty. Do You remember thousands of sentences you spoke at nineteen and twenty? So I am sure he took tremendous liberties while writing this book. You follow Black through months and months of recovery and hear each sentence his doctor spoke and what he said in return. This, I feel, is the bulk of the book: Dale's long recovery. It is, however, mildly uplifting and parts of it are very interesting. But if you are looking for a long, drawn out and detailed remembrance of a trip tothe Beyond this is not the book for you. We're all looking for different things in a book and if you want to possibly be moved to the point of tears and inspiration may I suggest Benny Hinn's, "Good Morning, Holy Spirit." No; I am not a Hinn follower but that book was really hard to put down.No thank you I did not like this book. This persons experience is heavily influenced by religion. No after death memories, nothing. I didn’t finish the book only read half, each page a disappointment
